About
Textiles
Born into a long line of Shetlanders, I learnt to knit at a young age. With my life steeped in wool, Fair Isle design, and making, it lead me to study textile design at The Scottish College of Textiles (now Heriot Watt University - School of Design).
I have spent the past 30 years in the Scottish Borders working in the industrial weaving industry, it has been a privilege visiting weaving companies around the world,
I have learnt so much!
Fair Isle is still my favourite knitting style, it keeps me connected to my heritage and the hands on making process and I offer hats, headbands and mitts for sale at craft fairs and I enjoy teaching children and adults textile skills through workshops.

Walks
Walking in the outdoors has always been a big part of my physical and mental wellbeing. Hiking in remote locations brings happiness and resilience. Sharing the outdoors with others is a joy, the comradery it creates and the friendship bonds it builds. Local history and folklore fascinates me and it is a delight to spot fauna and flora on my journeys.
When I realised young people were being deigned access to outdoor activities due to lack of qualified adults, I trained to be a Hill & Moorland Leader. I deliver guided walks to tourists in my local area including supporting young people gain access to outdoor adventures and expeditions. Its great watching them gain confidence and flourish, their enthusiasm is infectious even when it rains!
